Northern Territory Athletics Championships | Wanta Aboriginal Corporation

Two girls and one boy from our Arlparra Academy recently represented their community at the NT Championships in Darwin. Marika Club, Alexandria Long and Jacob Loy were selected as a result of their fantastic athleticism and leadership abilities.

With a huge field of athletes competing, all three kids from Arlparra scored medals: Marika won bronze in javelin, shot put and discus, Alexandria scored a medal in the relay, and Jacob won a silver and a bronze in high jump and long jump!

A fantastic effort by the three students and a showcase of talent we have in Arlparra.

Wanta is very involved with sports in the Arlparra School and play a large role in running Athletics carnivals in community and surrounding homelands. Our Arlparra Academy Director Tash Bennett was pivotal to the kid’s success by taking the students to the regional finals held in Tennant Creek and then coordinating transport for Marika, Alexandria and Jacob to get to Darwin to compete.

It is a great privilege to see these kids strive in their field, and a great outcome for Wanta that we can provide them with opportunities that otherwise would not be there.
