A Thursday night BBQ cooking hamburgers was a great way to begin our little adventure to reward the students who have had good attendance and behaviour at school.

After fuelling up with some great hamburgers it was time to set up the Wanta room with all the sleeping equipment and settle in for a movie before bed.

We did not make it through to the end of the movie before all the kids fell asleep. Not what I was expecting but a good outcome, kids in bed asleep before 9pm.

In the morning we rose at 5:30am and sorted out shower allotments and had some free time while everyone got sorted.

Once dressed it was a quick breakfast at school and time to hit the road to Numbulwar for the ‘colour run’.

The 2 .5 hr drive went very smooth and we arrived in time to have a good look around the school and meet some of the local staff and students.

At 10:30 it was time to make our way down to the beach for the event. Our Ngukurr kids were a bit shy at the start and took a bit of time to loosen up but once we got into some heavy powder and water balloon throwing – it was all in!

After such a great day of skipping comps, tug of war, the colour run and water balloons, it was time to hand out some prizes to kids that showed great sportsmanship and enthusiasm. It was so pleasing to see our Ngukurr kids get rewarded for their efforts and behaviour, I was very impressed with how they conducted themselves and the level of respect and gratitude they showed to all the staff and students at Numbulwar.

At 1:45pm it was a stop in at the local store for a stock up on fuel for the car and our bellies for the trip home. An awesome day and great experience for the kids.

A big thanks and shout out to Numbulwar School for their hospitality and fun provided.
