Mr. Henly Taka appointed as new Wanta CEO | Wanta Aboriginal Corporation

Henly Taka was appointed as the new CEO of Wanta by the Wanta Board on the 24th of May 2023. He has been acting in the role since the start of 2023.

Henly currently works for Wanta as General Manager – RSAS & Sports Academy in Papunya. He has been in this role for over four years. Henly has over ten years’ experience working with Indigenous youth in various locations in the Northern Territory (NT).

Prior to joining Wanta, Henly worked as the Head of Boarding (Operations Manager) at Wangkana-Kari Student Hostel in Tennant Creek for one (1) year.

Before moving to Tennant Creek, Henly worked as a Boarding House Parent for Indigenous students at Woolaning Homeland Christian College for five years. The college is located within the Litchfield National Park near Batchelor.

Before relocating to Australia at the start of 2011, Henly worked for five years in Papua New Guinea (PNG) in both the public and private sector. He worked as a Business Reporter with The National newspaper which is one of the two daily newspapers in PNG.

This was followed by a stint as a Brand Executive with South Pacific (SP) Brewery which is the biggest and oldest brewery in PNG. Henly’s last job in PNG before moving to Australia was with the PNG government. He worked as a Project Officer with the Ministry of Commerce.

Henly completed a Bachelor of Business – Double majors in Marketing and Finance – at Swinburne University of Technology in Hawthorn, Melbourne in 2005.

He also attained a Diploma of IT – Networking – at the TAFESA main campus on Currie Street, Adelaide in 2012.

Henly also has a Diploma of Youth Work and a Certificate 4 in Community Services Work from Boarding Training Australia.

Henly brings a wealth of experience, compassion and knowledge to our organisation and we look forward to working with him as he continues to build on what Wanta are achieving every day in our communities.
