Our Lajamanu Brighter Futures Students had an incredible long weekend in Katherine, NT, with nine amazing students! These students earned their spot on the trip through their outstanding school attendance and consistently great behaviour in school and the community.
We kicked off our adventure on Friday, traveling to Katherine and enjoying a fun pizza party before settling into our accommodation. Saturday was packed with excitement: we went roller skating at the YMCA, enjoyed a delicious and healthy lunch of student-prepared salad wraps after some shopping, and then cooled off with a swim. As evening approached, we grabbed Chinese takeaway and headed to the park for dinner, followed by a lively game of footy led by Wanta employee (and ex Gold Coast player!), Liam Patrick and Capture the Flag. We rounded out the night at the cinema, enjoying “Thunderbolts” with plenty of popcorn!
Sunday was an early start with a beautiful walk to Edith Falls before exploring the wonders of Kakadu National Park. The Yellow Water Billabong Cruise was a highlight, where we spotted heaps of wildlife, including many crocodiles! We enjoyed a refreshing swim at Cooinda and made several stops at lookouts and short walks through Kakadu on our way back to Katherine. On Monday morning, we did some quick shopping before returning to Lajamanu. It was a truly special trip, and we’re so proud of these students!
